This 27 CE hour course is designed to educate the physical therapist in trigger point dry needling of the cervical and thoracic spine and upper extremity for pain and performance.

  • Time Schedule and Content

    Day 1- 8AM-6PM, Lunch 12-1 PM

    8:00-8:30AM - Introductions

    8:30-10:00AM- Review history of dry needling/scope of PT practice

    10:00-11:00AM- Anatomy of the “Trigger Point”

    11:00-12:00PM- Review of OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standards and requirements for dry needling

    12:00-1:00PM- Lunch on your own

    1:00-2:30PM-Ethics and documentation of dry needling, dry needling indications/contraindications/adverse effects

    2:30-3:30PM- Performing the trigger point dry needling technique/LAB practice technique

    3:30-6:00PM- Review cervical anatomy, special precautions/procedures for trigger point dry needling the cervical spine, LAB practice cervical spine protocols

     

    Day 2- 8AM-6PM, Lunch 12-1 PM

    • 8:00-9:00AM- Review of dry needling safety procedures, OSHA standards, and practice cervical spine protocols

    • 9:00-12:00PM- Thoracic spine anatomy and protocols

    • 12:00-1:00PM- Lunch on your own

    • 1:00-6:00PM- LAB Shoulder anatomy and protocols

     

    Day 3- 8AM-5PM- No lunch break

    8:00-9:00AM- Elbow/wrist and hand anatomy review and protocols

    9:00-12:00PM- LAB practice elbow/wrist and hand protocols

    12:00-4:00PM- Check off on 1 cervical protocol, 1 thoracic, 1 wrist or elbow, and 1 shoulder protocol

    4:00-4:30PM- Complete dry needling post-test

    4:30-5:00PM- Questions and review

  • Refunds

    Full refunds will be issued up to 30 days prior to the first course date minus transaction fees. A $50 cancellation fee will be charged for refunds less than 30 days from the course.

  • PT and PTA

    This course is approved for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
